Who We Are

Light a Lamp began serving the community in 2014 and became an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2019.  While our focus areas may shift with the current needs in the community, our basic mission remains to support the vulnerable, brighten lives, and provide help and hope.

Light a Lamp holds a special place in my heart because of their unwavering support and compassion towards children with complex needs and their families. As the cleft lip and palate team nurse, I've seen how their generous contribution of welcome family baskets, specialized bottles and cups, and thoughtful gift packs not only eases the practical challenges of coping with craniofacial and cleft conditions but also brings immense joy and comfort to those we care for. Additionally, Light a Lamp's mission, "Project Lift Up," resonates deeply with me as it underscores the crucial importance of mental health support, kindness, and suicide prevention. Light a Lamp's holistic approach enhances the physical well-being of our children, but also nurtures their emotional and mental resilience, making every aspect of my involvement with them profoundly meaningful and rewarding.

As a School Counselor, I am always looking for additional resources that will benefit students who struggle with mental health. It has been a blessing to see how the mental health packs light up a students' face when they receive one

Light a Lamp is important to me because at its core it is looking to make transformational change in our families, starting with our children, by providing support to those who are most vulnerable.
