Kindness Is Contagious

Light A Lamp was invited to partner with the Hope Squad at Mead and Mt. Spokane High Schools for an activity to support and encourage students before winter break.  The Light A Lamp team always enjoys supporting these events as a way to help build community and connection.

Krystal and Haley, two of our volunteers, had a great time at Mead High School, giving students the opportunity to "spread kindness" by creating and handing out encouraging cards.  Krystal's story captures it perfectly!

Haley Vaughn and I represented Light A Lamp today at Mead High School to help kids spread kindness before winter break. And the best part was actually seeing what we are trying to accomplish play out in real time.

A student came up and made a encouraging card and asked what to do with it so I told her to go give it to someone she had never met and make them smile. So then I watched her look around and walk up to another student and tap her on the shoulder. She handed her the card and went and sat down.

A couple minutes later that girl that got the card came up and made one and gave it to someone else. Spreading kindness one person at a time!

One small act of kindness has the power to change someone's day.  Take the time this holiday season, and throughout the year, to send a note, share a smile, or encourage someone.

Kindness can be contagious - let's spread kindness, one person at a time!
